William Shipman papers, 1862-1865.

The collection consists of a total of thirteen letters written mainly by William Shipman from October 1862 - July 1865, while serving in the Confederate Army. The majority of the letters are written from camps located in East Tennessee to his aunt Susan Merrell and his cousin Mariah Osborn. There is one letter written by Edward Shipman, probably William Shipman's brother.
